Unique Experiences for Aussie Wine Month

Even though we believe that you should be enjoying Australian wines during every month of the year (responsibly, of course); for the last six years, the month of May has become ‘Aussie Wine Month.’ So whether you fancy escaping to the Barossa, exploring the Clare Valley, or even matching Australian wines with Australian native foods - here are some of our favourite events happening during this year’s Aussie Wine Month.

The 100 Metre Lunch

Don’t worry, this doesn’t involve eating 100 metres of food. Margan Wines pioneered ‘Agri Dining’ which encourages farmers to think locally and take control of their produce from start to finish. So at The 100 Metre Lunch, everything on your plate was grown on their estate - within 100 metres of your table. Meanwhile, the matching wines in your glasses were created from the neighbouring 100 hectares of stunning vineyards.

Fortified Fridays at Chateau Yaldara

While we love all varietals of Australian Wine, this time of year is perfect for slowly sipping on an aged, tawny port. Of course, fortified wines taste even better when they’re coupled with an assortment of local cheeses, produce, and enjoyed in the historic cellars of Chateau Yaldara. So if you find yourself gallivanting around the Barossa on a Friday afternoon, then make sure you book yourself in for one of these unique tours.

The Lovedale Long Lunch

Don’t call it a comeback, because Lovedale has championed the progressive lunch since 1994! At the Lovedale Long Lunch, your ticket welcomes you to enjoy each of your courses at one of the many, boutique wineries in the area. So gather your friends, book your bus, and get ready to sample some stunning, Australian wines - during a truly unforgettable lunch.

Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend

With over twenty wineries participating in this year’s event, the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend is your chance to sample some unique, Australian wines. You can also enjoy some delicious, regionally-inspired cuisine while live music echoes in the background. With accommodation options ranging from picturesque, powered campsites; to decadent, deluxe cabins; this festival caters for all walks of life. So it’s the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of The Clare Valley.

Native Foods and Australian Wine Workshop

What could be more fitting for Aussie Wine Month than pairing some boutique, Australian wines, with some native, wild-harvested produce? Hosted by Handpicked Wines at their recently opened cellar door on trendy Kensington Street in Sydney, this workshop celebrates over 60,000 years of culinary culture; and combines it with the beautiful, bold flavours of modern, Australian wine. Tickets are limited, so if you do miss out; why not host your own Australian wine workshop? Just head to your local deli for some scrumptious produce, and couple that with some of our unique, Australian wines.
