If you wish to spend your Valentine’s Day at home in a romantic and intimate atmosphere, you need to emphasise the visual effect of your menu. We recommend a special menu with a focus on red/pink shades to impart the ambience of love with colour. Our recipes are cool and light and easy to prepare, making them ideal even for people without much kitchen experiences.

Fig Roses with Prosciutto

“Fig roses with prosciutto crudo” is relatively easy to prepare and only requires 15 minutes of preparation.

4 figs

4 slices of prosciutto

35g of brown sugar

Method of Preparation

1.    Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the figs thoroughly. Use a knife to make a cross on the side of the stalk, ensuring that you do not cut all the way down; only enough to open them into 4 wedges (see photo).

2.    Place the open figs on a baking sheet and sprinkle brown sugar on the flesh.

3.    Use a torch to caramelize the surface for a few minutes. If you don’t have a torch put the tray under the grill for a few minutes until the sugar is completely melted.

4.    Cut each prosciutto slice in half lengthwise, then place one-half partially over the other half, and roll up tightly together, so you end up with two rolled layers inside each other. Gently pull the “petals” down to make it look like a rose.

5.    Place the rose at the centre of each fig.

Strawberry Risotto

Matching Wine: Flamingo Moscato
Matching Wine: Flamingo Moscato

Strawberry risotto, despite its unusual appearance, is actually served as a savoury dish and not a dessert. It has a romantic and delicious nature and is usually accompanied by a sparkling rose wine. It's preparation time is 10 minutes, and 17 minutes cooking time.

Arborio Rice (320g)

Strawberries (400g)

Dry white wine (1 glass)

1 White onion,

Cooking cream (1 cup),

Butter (50g),

Olive Oil (3 tablespoons),

Vegetable stock,

Black pepper.

Method of Preparation

1.    Heat oil in a pan.

2.    Add chopped onion to the heated oil and cook till it turns golden.

3.    Add the rice. (The best measure should be 2 handfuls per person and one for the pot.)

4.    Toast the rice for 2-3 minutes and stir thoroughly.

5.    Add the white wine and stir until the liquid is completely absorbed.

6.    Keeping the pot at medium heat, add warmed vegetable stock gradually, one ladle at a time.

7.    Stir after each ladle, until liquid is absorbed. Continue until desired consistency is reached.

8.    Blend about half the strawberries and add them to the risotto. Blended strawberries give more colour and flavour to the rice. You can also add a portion of chopped strawberries if desired.

9.    Add cream, butter, salt and crushed pepper before serving.

10.    Garnish the serving dishes with a few remaining strawberries

Raspberry mille-feuille is a light, romantic and delicious dessert. It can be enriched with grated white or dark chocolate. The preparation time is 50 minutes, and it takes approximately 15 minutes to cook.

Readymade Puff pastry sheet (1),

Flour (50g),

Egg yolks (3),

Sugar (100g),

Milk (50ml),

Vanilla (1),

Raspberries (150g).

Method of Preparation

1.    Place the pastry on a baking sheet, and using a fork, make small holes on it.

2.    Cook the pastry at 200°C for 15 minutes or until it becomes golden. Then, pull it out of the oven and allow it to cool.

3.    Prepare the custard by beating the egg yolks with the sugar until combined well. Add flour, vanilla, and hot milk.

4.    Mix thoroughly and place it on the stove allowing it to come to the boil. Ensure you stir the custard continuously until the right consistency is reached, which typically takes five minutes.

5.    Cut the puff pastry into rectangular shapes. Place them on a serving plate and spread the surface with a tablespoon of custard.

6.    Add raspberries and continue the process until 3 layers of pastry are used.

7.    Garnish with a few extra raspberries scattered on the plate and sprinkle with icing sugar.

Enjoy your Valentine!
